We were extremely content and relaxed throughout our four night stay. The quality of the room was very clean, comfortable and of a very high standard. We also found that how everything is managed made us feel very private like you would do in your own home. Lavinia House Is in the perfect location with just a short walk into town. We stayed in room 2 this time on the ground floor with a sea view, lovely clean room with a four poster bed, en-suite, tea & coffee and fluffy towels. Last time was room 3 on the first floor, very similar room and just as lovely hence coming back a second time. The hosts are very accommodating, great communication and are always happy to help with your needs. Tip would be buy the parking pass from the hosts.

This was our second visit to Lavinia House, and we cannot fault how clean and comfortable the rooms are.We arrived on a cold and stormy evening - which is great when visiting Whitby- when we arrived, Lyndsey and Mark could not have been more welcoming.The room we had looked over the Harbourand was incredibly warm and cosy.The guest house is well-located too, and we cannot recommend Lavinia House highly enough.Thank you for our lovely stay.

We had a reallylovely couple of nights in this beautiful guesthouse, it had everything we could possibly need for our comfort with special touches added, beautifully decorated and gorgeous furniture, perfect location with lovely views of the harbour & out to sea. Lyndsey greeted us when we arrived and very kindly helped us with our luggage and parking pass . We are most definitely arelooking forward tostaying at Lyndsey and Marks stunning guesthouse Lavinia again.

This was a weekend break in Whitby to celebrate my husband's birthday. The accommodation was very handy for the town with easy parking in front. The room was lovely with a four poster bed and a sofa in front of the TV. The room was very clean and tidy, the owners were very friendly and helpful. We had a very good stay

As always lyndsay and Mark are a lovely couple and can't do enough to make your stay as comfortable as possible . We always try to stay in room number 8 each time we stay at lavina house as it is spacious, a lovely comfortable kingsize bed the accommodation is always lovely and clean and nothing is to much trouble for lyndsay andMark . Great location not far from shops the famous whale bones and more loved our three day stay and hopefully we will be back soon x

I had a fantastic stay at this guesthouse in Whitby. The room was spotless, with a comfortable bed and a well-stocked courtesy tray. The hot showers were a great start to the day, and parking was easy with a scratch card provided by the guesthouse. It's conveniently located close to the town and all amenities, our room had a lovely view of the harbour that added to the charm. The binoculars provided were great too. Highly recommended!

My partner and I stayed at Lavinia House for a long weekend. We had a lovely welcome from Lyndsey who was very helpful from start to finish; she couldn’t do enough to make our stay amazing. We had another great stay in Whitby the Lavinia is always are first choice we like rooms 2 and 3 they are large rooms with 4 poster beds the rooms are always spotless and the beds are very comfortable we always have the best sleep The staff are the best great couple very friendly and always ready to help We highly recommend this hotel

We had a lovely stay in this fabulous spacious comfortable room.Very clean.A small fridge added was a great bonus also an hair dryer plus iron and ironing board along with the usual tea/coffee facilities. Added extra of binoculars was a lovely touch too.Would definitely return for future visits.

This is an accommodation only location, and does not include breakfast. We have stayed here a number of times and have our favorite room with good views over the west cliff area. Rooms are large and very clean and include a fridge.

We have just had 3 night stay at this lovely little guest house. Very clean comfortable nice to have a fridge in the room.My partner would have liked use of a fan as it was very warm when we stayed but overall a lovely place to stay to enjoy wonderful Whitby.

Hosts Mark and Lindsey are great, always accommodating and keen to ensure your stay is great. Rooms are always clean and well presented.The hotel location is excellent for reaching both sides of Whitby harbour.Views are great (if you select a room with a view).Best recommendation I can provide, is we keep returning to this hotel once or twice per year for the last 5 years.

It's our second visit here and it hasn't disappointed again. Lovely big room with everything you need. No breakfast but within easy walking distance of the seafront cafes. We're hoping to come back in December.

Excellent location for all the sites. The room is a good size and everything was spotless. Added bonus of a fridge in the room which was really good to keep drinks cold as the weather was fantastic.A fan in the room would have been a help as having the windows open on a night was extremely noisy, boy can those seagulls shout!Definitely recommend staying here and will come back.

This was our second stay at Lavinia House which is very well kept accomodation by Lindsey and Mark. This place is a gem. Clean room, comfortable bed, warm welcome on arrival, quiet (if you ignore the seagulls) and just a few minutes' walk from either the harbour (via a steepish hill) or the shops (more gentle). Parking right outside of the front door was easy with the pre-arranged visitor parking permit.Will definitely try to stay here again on our next visit.

Found this place back in 2022 as we needed a little break from life….when we got there we was greeted by the most friendly couple u could ever meet both very polite people showed us to our room an made sure we where ok an had everything we needed after that we both have returned 3 times as we find this a very peaceful place to relax…we come an go as we please nobody hassles u …perfect just what we like but if u need any they are both around somewhere love this place rooms always clean tidy an fresh we can’t wait to return again as we love Whitby or our special place to get away an relax for home life ….id recommend this place 100% thanks guys see u again soon

Lavinia House was very clean and comfortable. Tea, coffee, biscuits and bottled water supplied - thank you. Very close to Whitby town centre. We were lucky to park right outside which was a big bonus (£2.00 for 4 days - bargain!). Lots of lovely walks from the doorstep, lots of great pubs, restaurants etc. within walking distance. Hopefully we'll be back some time.

Just wanted a small room for a weekend stay whilst visiting the North Yorkshire Moors Rsilwsy, this was perfect for me, very good value, greeted by Mark on my arrival, very thorough instructions of how to access the premises after hours, relaxing stay, very clean and all the facilities I needed for my two night stay, thanks.

This is our 2nd stay at Lavinia House. Ideal for visiting Whitby. A short walk into the town. But a lot quieter. Plenty of places to park quite close by. Would definitely recommend staying here.

My room was excellent, top floor with a seaview (binoculars provided). Lovely comfy bed and a quiet location so a good night's sleep. A short walk in either direction to the beach or harbour. I would definitely stay again.

We have stopped here on a regular basis over the last 20+ years and we are never disappointed, Mark and Lyndsey looked after us well, but we hadn't a single problem, Lyndsey helped us sort out a good parking space,and gave us the £2 parking permit to display. Lovely smelling fresh bedding and towels a super clean room, with great little fridge, with water bottles and good standard if coffee, tea and biscuits.

East Crescent(site of Lavinia House) is extremely convenient for West Cliff Attractions; and Lavinia House is an attractive property in a pretty crescent. Landlord and landlady friendly and helpful.

Had an absolute amazing stay at Lavinia House, lovely and clean and welcoming, parking available (very cheap) the room we had room 3 was amazing, a short walk into town couldn’t fault it at all, would definitely recommend this place, and would definitely stay there again. It’s bed only so no good if you like breakfast, tea & coffee available in the rooms though, but there are plenty of places to eat in town which suited us fine.

Just spent 2 nights at Lavinia House and enjoyed it very much. The hosts were very helpful and friendly. Lovely fresh smell as soon as you enter.Our room was spotless and clean and the bedding smelt lovely. It was room only which was fine as there are lots of places to eat nearby and there was tea and coffee facilities in the room. We had room 8, a 2nd floor room and binoculars were provided so we could see across the harbour. Lovely touch. We have stayed in many accommodations over the years in Whitby. This is by far the best one we have stayed at and will definitely be returning. We was greeted by one of the owners Lyndsey who was very welcomeing and made us feel really welcome from the off, she couldn't of done more for us. The room was nice and warm when we got in there considering the cold weather out side. The room itself was to a nice high standard and clean with king size bed and ensuite . Plenty of refreshments left for us on arrival. We will definitely be making this our go to place from now on. Parking was also very easy.

We had a lovely two night stay. Excellent communication leading up to our stay meant that we checked in quickly and easily. We were even informed that our rooms were ready early. The rooms themselves were warm, comfortable and well appointed, everything you need it to be.

I was travelling alone without a car and wanted a single room at a reasonable price in a convenient location. Lavinia House was ideal. I was given a friendly welcome, the room was a good size, nicely decorated with a generous hospitality tray. The private bathroom was well equipped with a big shower that was easy to use. The property was in a very good location, just a few minutes stroll from several of Whitby's major attractions and the sea. House was quiet and peaceful. Being given an electronic key tag for the front door saved having to master a keyboard or sort out keys

We stayed 13th to 15th October . We had room 6 lovely top floor room lovely touch 2 seats by the window with binoculars lovely view of the harbour . Not far from the whale boneslovely touches of a fridge and coffee tray . Bathroom beautiful with complimentary toiletries.Tea and coffee tray filled up just leave outside door in the morning.Parking permits from hotel 2 pounds for 4 days We parked right outside hotel in a W zone .Hosts available if needed .lovely place

First time staying at my namesake so I had to book when I found it and it didn’t disappoint. Mark was really helpful on our arrival and helped us with parking. The room was lovely and roomy and the location is perfect. I think the guesthouse is real value for money and I would stay again.

Me and my partner Phil enjoyed a lovely weekend at Lavinia House situated on East Crescent overlooking the harbour. Our hosts were very welcoming and issued our parking permits and ensured we we parked correctly which is a must in Whitby! The room was delightful and spotlessly clean, we had a small fridge also which was handy for drinks, we had everything we needed for a relaxing stay, they don’t do breakfasts it’s bed only which is another reason we stayed as I find it quite regimented to get up at a certain time to eat,l. The town is just a short walk away five minutes onto the seafront! I highly recommend this delightful guest house and hosts Mark and Lynsey x oh and the shower is amazing!! We will definitely return for another visit x

Easy to find, only about 15 minute walk from Bus Station (quite steep)-good views. Spacious, clean, fridge and coffee/tea, welcoming.

The room was cosy and inviting. The harbor front was only a 5 min walk from the front door. Room also provided a great sea view. Staff were friendly and helpful.

On arrival the host was very welcoming .The room was very nice and exceptionally clean .The bed was very comfortable and facilities were good. It was room onlyaccommodationso very helpful tobe providedwith a list of possible places to eat .It was very quiet with no traffic noise so very relaxing . I would not hesitate to rebook this hotel and would definitely recommend it to others.

We loved everything about this stay, from the text to greet us and information on where to park and how to get in, to the owners greeting us and making sure we didn’t want for anything and knew where to go or what to do. We absolutely enjoyed our stay at Lavinia House, great location, a lovely room and our host Lyndsey was brilliant, nothing was ever to much trouble. 5 star all round and we will definitely go back to Lavinia House.

My wife and I like short stay UK breaks and thought Whitby looked like an interesting location to visit. I spent quite a bit of time looking at various websites and accommodation in and around Whitby. When I found Lavinia House I wasn't too sure as it was room only, but after a bit more research, I found there were plenty of restaurants near-by. I made our booking through the hotel website which was very smooth and efficient. We were lucky enough to get the last available room for our four night stay. Room 8 is at the top of 40 stairs (not counting the nine up to the front door). This wasn't a problem for us and it shouldn't be a problem for any visitor to Whitby. There's virtually nowhere flat there. You are constantly up and down hills and steps everywhere. Lavinia House is in an excellent location set in a crescent of period properties. 2 minutes walk down to the quayside (5 minutes back LOL). We found all the short-cuts through the 'snickets'. Round the quayside in the evening it can be quite busy but just up the hill at Lavinia House it's really quite peaceful and quiet. Room 8 is on the top floor at the back of the property and overlooks the town and inner harbour with the countryside behind that. The room is spacious and well laid out with all the usual tea/coffee etc. (Refreshed whenever we placed our tray outside our door). We had a decent sized ensuite complete with plenty of towels. It was also spotlessly clean. We live on the opposite side of the country and on the way, our car broke down. We had to be recovered back home, so contacted Lavinia and kept them informed of our situation. The following day, our car was repaired and we made our way back over the Pennines, again maintaining contact with Lyndsey. On our arrival, Lyndsey met us and helped with our bags before sorting out our four day visitor parking permit. Would we visit Whitby again? Yes. Would we stop at Lavinia House again? Absolutely.

The accommodation is pristine,it's cleanliness and quality cannot be faulted.Lindsey and Mark couldn't be more helpful.The location and views are great.We have stayed before and will certainly stay again.

It is as good as you would think, Lynsey & Mark have put a lot of effort in making this guest house nice and comfy, our room even had a small chiller to keep our water & canned drinks cool to take out with us during the day. This was our 2nd visit both on Andreas birthdays ! Yes she likes Whitby

We had a lovely large harbour view room here at Lavinia House, the king size bed was very comfortable and the leather chairs lovely to relax on especially when it's torrential rain (which it was for most of the weekend).We will definitely be back as we spend a lot of time here in Whitby.

Absolutely superb accomodation,can't fault it.Lovely bright,spotlessly clean room with en suite. At the time we were there,parking was at a premium due to a film crew working on the street,but Mark sorted us out with a parking permit and showed us the best place to leave the car. The lovely couple running the place can't do enough for you and hopefully we will return later in the year

I really enjoyed my stay big thank you to Lindsay one of the hosts, she was friendly and helpful and me feel welcome. My room was very clean and comfortable lots off little touches I wasn’t expecting a hairdryer but there was one the hospitality try was well stocked and I was told to leave the tray or my mineral water empty bottle outside the door and it would be replenished.

We were there for three nights the room was ammaculate the couple who run the accommodation were really nice nothing was too much trouble we even had a little fridge sitting inside the wardrobe which was really handy to put some drinks in and a hairdryer tea coffee milk sugar if you wanted anything replacing such as condiments or clean towels you just had to askMy self and my husband are 6ft 2 and 6ft 5 so the bed is important for comfort it’s one of the best beds we have slept in .we will definitely be back and it was in a nice area very quiet

1. Brilliant location. It’s over the bridge (short walk) from the castle etc but right near the little town centre and whale arch,amenties close and everything2. Lovely views3. Hotel is really nice. Really friendly owners.Very welcoming. Helped us accommodate our bikes which is really go cos have otherwise had to keep them in the car.4. Room was nice. No complaints at all. Wi-Fi signal good. Drinks fridge nice touch. Looks new5. Info book about the area in room and restaurants and cafes etc6. I was worried about the parking but it was fine. If there’s none in front of hotel because it’s busy there’s plenty elsewhere. 4 day scratch card is £2 - really good. We went late June so don’t know what it’s like in the summer. There’s a car park nearby anyway.5. No breakfast suited us cos we can get what we want when we wanted it. There’s so many places nearby anyway and you can have what you want 😊Thank you Lynsey and Mark 😊

Our room was spacious, airy, had all the facilities we required plus a lovely shower room and loads storage. A perfect view over the harbour and estuary from the window seat and everything was spotlessly clean. The owners were very friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble, highly recommended to anyone.

Lyndsey and Mark met us on arrival, they were so welcoming and friendly. Lyndsey explained how local parking worked and was so helpful. The hotel and our room and en suit was spotless, the bed was so comfortable and the pillows and crisp spotless bedding was a joy. Location is just a 5 minute from the harbour and bars. Overall couldn't have received better hospitality in a lovely establishmentcan highly recommend

Hotel was spotless.it was apparently the smallest room but for us it was ok.slept like a baby..Lyndsey was amazing(Mark we.never met) nothing was too much trouble..she even gave us a later checkout due to it being my husband's bday the day before..wasn't a pretty sight..lol.hotel in a quiet part of the town..defo visit again..

lavinia house far exeeded what we expected. well run, clean, fantastic sea view and just a stones throw from just about everything whitby has to offer. lindsey went well out of her way to make it a perfect getaway. we are regular visitors to whitby and have stayed at various guest houses over the years and lavinia is up there with the nicest.

This was our second stay in Lavinia House. we came last year for my birthday and 'r lass said she'd like to go back for her's because it made such a good impression. The room was immaculate,a good size, comfortable and quiet importantly for spring WARM. While laying on the extremely comfortable king size four poster bed I was musing if it would be possible is sneak it out in our bags and take it home 😄

We stayed for 3 nights in room 8 which was a lovely big room. Everything was spotless and finished to a very high standard. The hosts were friendly and helpful and we would definitely return.

We had a lovely two night stay. The room was small but was great for a short break. We had everything we needed and more: hair dryer, iron and ironing board, telly, tea and coffee making facility, a fridge and even a pair of binoculars to help us enjoy the sea view. Everything, including the en suite bathroom, was beautifully clean. I’m sure we will be visiting again.

Lyndsey and Mark are a wonderful couple, and I really enjoyed my stayThe room was very comfortable and clean, and although I had a seperate bathroomit was not a problem.The property is situated very close to The Royal Hotel and a very short walk into the Town Centre.Breakfast was not available but therewas a mini fridge in the room, and a Kettle with teas, coffee and milk. Not having to get5 up for breakfast meantI could have a lie in.I can highly recommend staying here as tye accomadation is to a very highstandard.I was able to park just round the corner for £2.00 with a scratch card which obtained from Lyndsey and that was parking for up to 5 days.

This is accommodation I’d recommend. Even before our visit, the smooth booking process gave me confidence in a hassle-free holiday. We found the accommodation easily (relying on sat-nav) & Lyndsey had sent details of the straightforward check in process. We easily found a parking spot close by & used the scratch card provided.The guesthouse is close enough to the centre for convenience, yet far enough away to ensure an uninterrupted night’s sleep.We stayed in Room 8 on the top floor, which had far-reaching views & binoculars were thoughtfullyprovided to make the most of them.The room was immaculate & very comfortable.We’ll be rebooking for next year!

Proprietors Mark & Lyndsey were waiting outside to give us a warm welcome when we arrived; we parked nearby in a space Mark had kept for us with parking permit they'd arranged in advance for our week's stay.. They took our cases to our room which was spotlessly clean, a generous size & well equipped; everything in our room worked just as it was meant to. Comfortable bed & easy chairs. Coffee, tea, milk & good quality biscuits were renewed whenever required. Communal areas were invariably clean & tidy too. Easy access to quayside within 5 minutes & the rest of Whitby in little more. For the 2 of us Lavinia House was an absolutely perfect place to stay & we'd highly recommend it. Chris & Angela.

When we arrived we were very warmly greeted by both Lyndsey and Mark and showed to our room which was exactly as described on the website. The room was immaculately presented with all the home comforts provided which even included a pair of binoculars to explore the sea view. Great experience and lovely room especially the window seat for 2 with the beatiful view, we often came back from town with a picnic and sat people watching and brilliant providing binoculars to watch the boats, it's the little things like that that make the difference and Mark was nice and friendly, recommended already to other friends and we'll definitely go back.

Lyndsey was very welcoming & made sure we had everything we needed for our stay, our room was spacious & clean with a great view of the town & river esk & in a great location on east crescent with the added bonus of a parking permit for four days.

Lyndsey is the perfect hostess...so helpful and made us feel very welcome as well as giving us advice on the car parking, best places to go for breakfast and just a very lovely lady who looked after our every need whilst there. Would thoroughly recommend anyone to stay here. Literally stones throw from beach and all the eating establishments. We all had a brilliant time.

Lavinia House is an excellent place to stay for a Whitby holiday. It is located up a hill only 5 minutes from the waterfront. Our room was spacious enough for two, with complimentary hot drinks, biscuits and bottled water. One tip: book direct for the best rates for this well run guest house. Thanks Mark and Lyndsey.

Lavinia House exceeded all expectations. From being able to let ourselves in and settle in our room to the wonderful facilities on offer. The room was immaculate and to a high standard. I had a wonderful stay at Lavinia House. The single room was very comfortable, and much nicer than I was expecting. Plenty of space for me and my things, and I loved having the recliner chair as well so I didn't just have to sit on the bed. Excellent location, and Mark was very helpful in giving me restaurant recommendations. I'll definitely be back again!

Just back home after a fantastic weekend staying at Lavinia House. First impressions count for a lot, and here it couldn’t have been any better. We were met at the door and welcomed like a old friend. The immediate impression we got was that nothing was too much trouble.The room was excellent, and if I’m being honest the photos don’t do it justice. I have recently stayed at Lavinia's for a bit more than a week and everything was great! Spotless interiors, nicely decorated and modern, very quiet and relaxing atmosphere and so close to the centre and the sea front as well, perfect location! As it was January I didn't struggle with parking and Lyndsey kindly provided scratch cards for the duration of my stay. She was very friendly and welcoming, she gave me all the information I needed.I will definitely book again when in the area!

Fabulous stay in Lavinia guest house, will definitely visit again, lovely room & Lyndsey is a lovely host, on hand if anything was needed. Beautiful huge four poster bed, firm mattress which we found extremely comfortable, plenty of room in the room, room 3 which is a sea view room, nice bathroom with bath & shower over bath & toiletries included.Lavinia guest house is in a prime location, a stones throw from the whale bones & a 5 min walk if that into town.Everything was just perfect! had the best New Year in Whitby.Another recommendation is for breakfast (as Lavinia house doesn’t serve breakfastbut we like to go out anyway) & that is for the Singing Kettle near Wetherspoons, quite frankly it is the best breakfast we’ve had for quality & value for money £6 for full English with a drink, toast & bread & butter included…. You will not leave hungry 😋

We really enjoyed our stay at Lavinia House. We received a warm and friendly welcome. Our room was large and very comfortable. Nothing was too much trouble eg the host happily supplied us with a thinner douvet when the winter duvet proved to be too warm for us. Enjoyed the view over the Esk, the old town and hills beyond. We had a lovely time in Whitby this guest house is in walking distance to the centre and the beach. We stayed in a small double room which was very clean, the only down side for us was that the mattress (dreams - good qualitymake) but was too firm for us and could do with a memory foam topper as we found it uncomfortable and woke up aching everywhere but each to there own.... the owner was very nice and accommodated us with more tea n milk when requested and we got a parking permit for the 3 days we visited at only £2 well worth it! also there was a very useful information book with best places to eat and visit etc . Would visit again but try and book in advance for a four poster bed and sea view next time! Thanks again x

Good location, we parked a short distance away due to parking being busy.Close to everything, great recommendations from owners if local places to eat, humble pie shop, trenches fish n chip shop and abbey brewery our favourites.The room had four poster bed and was nicely decorated.Had two good night sleeps.My only negative would be room 2 shower quite high off floor and toilet seat banged when sat on.Tea n coffee was left with bottle of water but could have done with replenishing day 2.Would definatley recommend and stay again, loved the weekend.

We have stayed at Lavinia House on 3 previous occasions & have had the same room, which is very comfortable, with views overlooking the harbour. It is situated in a crescent which is quiet, away from the bustling crowds. Parking can be sometimes difficult, depending on the time of day, even with a permit supplied by the owners.The only real downside this visit, is that breakfast is no longer supplied, which we really used to look forward to, as it set us up for the rest of the day. Having said that, it has not put us off returning to this house in the future.

The Lavinia House is ideally suited for walking to and from the town centre. The room we used was fabulous and spotless clean, all we had to do was ask and replacement towels, coffee and tea were there in 5 minutes.We would definitely use this accommodation again when we return to Whitby

We was a group of 4 adults, stayed in room 3 and 4. Cannot fault the rooms in anyway. The staff was great, we shall be back in the future, we have booked a apartment in November so the kids can experience Whitby! Beautiful hotel and whitby is breath taking. Love it.

We arrived early to find out the room was ready Which was greatly appreciated.we were helped with the parking then told to ask if there was anything else,all the information to eat out was at hand.The view from the hotel room was amazing.We will definitely be coming back.

The guest house was in a ideal location for walking to the beach, Whale bone and west cliff promenade, also within easy walking distance of the main town and swing bridge and old town and abbey. The room was very comfortable for a single person, very clean n tidy, comfy bed and chair for relaxing in an evening. The whole place was very tidy and clean and all guests respected others personal space and was very quiet. The owner couldn't have been more welcoming moving their own car from a parking space close by allowing me to park up within a few yards of the front door. All in all great place to stay and I will be returning.

So glad to have found this treat in Whitby. Stayed four four nights in July and would definitely return. Fab large room with additional window seating, which was lovely after a long day exploring. The addition of a fridge enabled us to have the wine chilling for our return. Very clean,great location and an mattress to aid a great nights sleep. Parking not a problem thanks to owners and permit. Would definitely stay again.

Our first time in Whitby and had a great 3 day stay. Our room was spotless and comfortable with the added bonus of a small fridge. The guest house is in a great location just a short walk from from shops, resturants etc. Would definitely stay there again.

We stayed at Lavinia House for 3 nights. The guest house is spotlessly clean. Facilities are first class. It is centrally located, so getting around was really easy. We wound not hesitate to stay again. If you are looking for accommodation at a very reasonable price, we would heartily recommend Lavinia House.

Arrived at the property outside was lovely and clean.Lynsey our host greeted us with all Covid secure measures in place.our room was on the top floor which was a struggle for me as I have a disability but had not pre warned the host .so took full responsibility for this.Room was spotless clean beautifully furnished and lovely view over the harbour. Was not disturbed at all the house was quiet we had a lie in Saturday morning and this was great. Partner and I had 3night stay here, what a perfect location! Had king room with lovely sea view. Room was so clean, spacious and had a nice bathroom. The owners where amazing and so welcoming, helped us with parking on arrival, so no stress!!No breakfast but lots of options, short distance, in the town for meals. Definitely would stay again.

Great little short stay of 2 nights. Roomwas comfortable,clean, and with a great view over the harbour and out to sea. The little window seats were a great touch. Mark and Lyndsey were excellent hosts- clear instructions for arrival and check in, and even moved their car so we could have an easy parking spot whilst there. We would definitely book again!

We stayed here for 3 nights whilst visiting whitby. We were made to feel very welcome and supported by Lyndsey, especially when it came to the parking! The room was small and cosy and very clean. We had our tea and biscuit tray filled daily. The location was brilliant and we will certainly stay here again. I cant fault the Lavinia.

We arrived at Lavinia House on Sunday the 13th for a two night stay.We stayed in Room 3 and it was a beautiful room, it was only overshadowed by the magnificent view from the two very large windows.Lyndsay and her husband are a lovely couple, very helpful and courteous.Hope to revisit Whitby in the next couple of months and would most definitely stay again.

We enjoyed our 2 night stay in Room 7, Lavinia House which is in a great central location. The room was furnished well and was spotlessly clean.We loved the amazing sea view from our window in room 7 on the top floor.We were provided with a selection of toiletries and drinks which was a nice touch.The ensuite bathroom was a good size.The only improvement to the room would have been a bit larger TV as the one in the room is quite small.Overall we had an excellent break in Whitby.

We were in room 6 which was on the top floor and had a beautiful view of the sea. The room was immaculate and had everything you could need including toiletries and your own hand sanitiser. Lyndsey was a perfect hostess and nothing was too much trouble. The only minus point was that we found the bed too firm but this might suit others.

Was booked as a little getaway for my husbands birthday had to reschedule due to covid so had to change rooms from the beautiful luxurious 3 to a more homely and beautiful 4....next time 3 you will be ours! We have had a lovely time.. friendly and welcoming owners so thank you to you both for giving us this opportunity after a hellish year for everyone!

Our first stay at Lavinia and won’t be our last, lovely room with a gorgeous view, clean & comfortable, Lyndsey went out of her way to secure a parking place for us, b & b in walking distance to all the amities and tourist attractions. Missed a fry up for breakfast. (Covid 19 restrictionists) but fount a cafe not to far away.

We have stayed at Lavinia House for some years now and have never been disappointed. It is now under new ownership and the standards haven’t slipped. It was a little different due to Covid but at no time did we feel awkward.

Very enjoyable stay for our first time in Whitby. The owners were very hospitable and always on hand if needed. We had a slight worry as we couldn’t get parked up but the owners kindly moved their car so we could park up close to the hotel. Due to current regulations, the rooms were not cleaned on a daily basis however the hotel was spotless! Beautiful sea view topped off with the binoculars in the window. I’m sure we will be back!

What a wonderful stay in this beautiful room with an amazing sea view. Just a very short stroll to the very best of Whitby and all it has to offer. The room was stunning and the cleanliness second to none and even not being able to have breakfast did not detract from our enjoyment, in these times it was the right decision not to offer it but I am sure we would not have been disappointed. Just what we needed after 3 months in lockdown.

We enjoyed our stay at Lavinia House. It was very clean throughout, smelt fresh from the entrance. Room was very well presented, comfortable and quiet. Communication with Lyndsey was easy as she responded in no time. The one thing I thought I would miss was having breakfast included, but I didn't because it meant that we could wake up whatever time we wanted. Part of having a break is getting to have a lie-in. Plus, there's plenty of options when it comes to food, all within walking distance. It goes without saying that we will definitely be staying again soon.

Lovely B&B, really well situated in Whitby. We originally wanted room 3 a big seaview room but it was booked out so opted for room 8, a lovely comfortable , light and sunnyroom with views over the town , would definately stay there again

Lovely breakfasts and beautiful room. A first class B&B all round.

As regular visitors to Whitby we have stayed at several B&B's and Lavinia is our favourite so far! We prefer the less personal approach which the Lavina offers, thats not to say that Sarah and John are unavailable or unhelpful, they completely are but you are provided a keycode for the door to the B&B so you can get in and pick up your parking permit and room keyand get on with your stay without fuss, we really like this! The B&B is spotless with lots of nice touches and very homely. We stayed in room 2 which has a great four poster bed, a perfect sea view and a really nice touch was the binoculars that are in the room that you can use to look out to sea! Breakfast for us was great, mainly continental with some additional cooked options. We are very happy with this and all the foods for breakfast were very nice and lovely quality. All in all a lovely B&B in a perfect location, we will return!

We booked their best room which had a 4 poster bed. It was a wonderful run with a really high ceiling over 12 ft high. They were all so far reaching views across to the sea the whale bones and the statue of James Cook. Another great feature of the room is that the sun never comes through. This was a relief for us because we went to an exceptionally hot time.Parking is right outside the hotel and you're doing a permit which lasts for your duration of your stay and it's free.Your room is not cleaned every day, make a point of this in there instruction booklet. also you have a tiny bottle of shampoo and a tiny bottle of shower gel which needs to last for the duration of your stay. there is also very limited tea and coffee so I suggest you bring your own if you're staying more than one night.Breakfast is in a very pleasant room and you are getting the same table every day. This is because items that you use I left there for you to finish the next day day. For example, if you start a small jar of jam and only use half of it then they will keep the other half for you for the next day. This seemed a bit mean.You don't really get to meet the guest house owners, there is a code to put in for the door door and the only time you get to see the hosts is when breakfast is served which is during a very limited time scale of 8.30 to 9:30 a.m.The room we booked was lovely, and the location is fantastic.The bed is too big and looks old and room decor and linen is a bit dated. It was clean though.We enjoyed our stay very much.

The hotel is in a great location,just a 2 minute walk to the beach and a 2 minute walk down to the harbour. Our room had a lovely view of the harbour, it was very clean and comfortable, couldnt have asked for much more.

We stayed here with family and friends for our wedding in Whitby. All the rooms were spotlessly clean and had great views over Whitby. When we arrived the owner brought us flowers and fizz 🍾 this was a lovely surprise. We found the Lavinia to be well located for all the attractions in Whitby and the breakfast was nice with plenty of choice for everyone. We would definitely stay here again. 👍

We have stayed in a few similar hotels but this one certainly comes out as being the best! Very well presented, clean and tidy, descriptions are all spot on, nice staff and is somewhere we would certainly stay again. The only slightly negative item was the slow running shower, but certainly didn't see that as being a problem.

Lavinia House is our Home from Home . Having stayed there a number of times now, it really does feel like Home, except we dont have the fantastic views from Room 3 at hone . Sarah & John are the perfect hosts and the entire house is spotlessly clean. We will be back as soon as we are able .

We had a wonderful three nights in Lavinia House. Staying in the king size four poster room, our room felt very luxurious and had marvellous sea views and you could also see St Mary's Church.The hosts are extremely friendly and welcoming, the breakfast was delicious with a good choice including vegetarian option. Soya milk was even provided at our request. The location is also perfect, just a couple of minutes walk from the town centre. All in all, you could not wish for a better place to stay!

Very clean hotel .tea and coffe facilities in room biscuits also to go with tea coffee .there was a tv in room and also ironing board and communal iron we had 4 poster bed and full en suite with bath and shower.extra pillows were in the wadrobe if needed.we had lovely view of estury and the boats looking over the rooftops of whitby harbour.we were in room 4 ..lovely couple who own the place.breakfast was cereal .fruit .then a beautiful full english and toast.other things were available .request form to be filled out by 10pm .the previous night .very tasty.check out not a problem .free on street parking right outside the front of hotel .really close to seafront 3 min walk down to main street by amusements .would go back and stay at the lavinia again.

We chose Lavinia house with no knowledge of Whitby. We were thrilled to find Lavinia in the dress circle overlooking the sea. The proximity to the Yellow bus, restaurants and the harbour meant we didn’t need to use our car for the duration of our stay. A big bonus in Whitby. The room was luxuriously well appointed and breakfast was delicious with plenty of choice. Our hosts were welcoming and helpful. A wonderful stay.

Fantastic break once again.If we can't get in at the Lavinia then we don't go to Whitby,it's as good as that.

This is our 3rd stay at this beautiful B&B. It's an outstanding establishment. It's everything that you need when visiting Whitby. The owners are such lovely people and very welcoming. They would go out of their way to make you very welcomed, also leave you to your own selfs. Breakfast! What can I say but... delicious and I good variety. We stayed in room 2 which is on the first floor, it was beautiful everything we needed was in the room. The bed was comfortable and the room was nice and cosy too. We knew we had a sea view but the view was the best we'd ever had it was lovely. The one and only thing that let it down was the bathroom, although adequate it could have done with updating as it didn't have the wow factor like the bedroom itself.The breakfast was good, if you didn't want a full English then there was a little slip of paper that you could fill in the night before indicating what you did actually want. On the second day my wife and I decided to have an alternative. My wife chose a poached egg with an English muffin however when it came it was poached eggs on a slice of toast. Apart from that it was overall a really good weekend. Thankyou. If we come back to Whitby we would love to stay at Lavinia House if they have availability.

We have returned to Lavinia house for the sixth time and it still gives us the same thrill when we look out of the window at the lovely view over the harbour.

Had a wonderful four nights at the Lavinia. A great place to use as base camp as you explore the beautiful town of Whitby. The room was spotless and the bed was so comfy I tried to get it in my suitcase and bring it home. The full English breakfast was of generous portions and expertly prepared by John who I think is chained to the kitchen and if he's good Sarah lets him out one day a week. Sarah was great as front of house hostess and immediately puts you at ease. Would I come back?? Of course but this time with a bigger suitcase for that bed.

We have stayed here many times; it is excellent all round - food, accommodation, location and friently host. We were in room 8 this time but have also satyed in room 2 and 3.These rooms are out favourites. We will be back.

This was our first time staying with Sarah and John but it will definitely not be our last. Lavinia House is tastefully decorated throughout and spotlessly clean. On our first morning I asked Sarah if they served cream for coffee, which they didn't but Sarah got me some for the next morning. There is everything you could want in the rooms including bathroom products.Our room (2) had a four poster bed and sea view. It was beautiful. Sarah is so friendly and although we only saw John once, he was also very friendly and although they must be very busy they were happy to chat for a few minutes. Will definitely be returning when we take our next Whitby 'fix'.

We stayed at Lavina House from 22nd to 25th aug and our stay was excellent. We stayed in room 7 which was one of the smaller rooms but had everything we needed and with excellent views. Both myself and my partner really enjoyed our stay at Lavinia House. The room was perfect, and we were provided with tea/coffee/hot chocolate and biscuits as well as shampoo and body wash.Everything was clean and beautifully presented.The breakfast was perhaps my highlight of the stay - the Whitby kippers were excellent, and I was asked whether I would like to have scrambled egg with them which I would definitely recommend!On the final day both my partner and myself were very tired after having spent a lot of the previous day exploring. We both were a little late in leaving the room, however were not made to feel rushed in any way.Just an absolutely fantastic base to spend a few days exploring Whitby, we will certainly return!

I would recommend the Lavinia House to anyone that wants a quality stay in Whitby. We were warmly greeted by a friendly couple that instantly made us feel welcome. We immediately noticed how clean and well presented all the rooms were.A generous full English breakfast was served in the mornings with optional extras at no extra cost. We were very impressed with the level of service and care that the owners gave, so much so that we left a tip. Well worth £74 per night of anyones money.

Stayed here on a Friday and Saturday night in May. The location is fantastic and the room we stayed in (two) was lovely, clean and well maintained. Very comfy bed. Lovely hot cooked breakfast. The owners were very pleasant and helpful. Would definitely recommend and would not hesitate to stay there again if returning to Whitby.

We stayed for three nights over the Regatta weekend in a wonderful 4 poster bed.The bed was really comfortable - the room and bathroom were really clean and both were luxurious.Breakfasts were really nice but after a heavy night it was tricky hitting the allotted slot.Hosts were very friendly and we will definitely stay again.

We booked at short notice and so didn't get the biggest room but ours was perfectly adequate. The furnishings, bedding etc were allhigh quality and spotless. The breakfasts were well cooked with plenty of choice and I wish I could fillet a kipper as well as the proprietor, who, like his wife, couldn't have been more pleasant and helpful.We'd happily stay here again.

Absolutely brilliant.We came to Whitby for our 20th wedding anniversary. It certainly will be one to remember.We stayed in room 1 at Lavinia. It was a lovely room and very clean. Fantastic choice of breakfasts, and they were really nice.John and Sarah are lovely and can't do enough. The views from the bench , just outside we're fantastic.We,ll certainly stat here again.

Our hosts were friendly and nothing was to much trouble.The property is attractive from the outside, no more than 5 minutes walk from the harbour and restaurants yet is still quiet with no noise from traffic.Our ground floor room with sea views was immaculate.Good choice for breakfast which included a veggie option.An excellent choice for those of us who love Whitby and the surrounding areas.

Our stay at Lavinia House was lovely. Just come back from spending four nights at Lavinina House. We were in room 3 which was wonderful. So comfortable, comfortable bed with lovely white cotton bedding. Everything was so clean, bathroom with lovely white fluffy towels.Breakfast was very good and a good choice on the menu.John and Sarahwere wonderful hosts and we would highly recommend Lavinina House.

Very clean establishment, owners extremely friendly. We had room 8 at the top of the house, a large room with a nice en-suite shower, toilet and whb. Breakfast was a little early for us party animals but, hey, who cares? As Blackpool B&B owners, we know what to look for and you won't go wrong with this cracking place!

Just a 3 min walk in to the center of Whitby.We started in Room number 3 which was immaculate, awoke with loverly sea views. We had a most enjoyable three day break staying at Lavinia House. Sarah and John were very friendly and welcoming, the room was very comfortable and warm and we had nice views of the harbour. The breakfast was beautifully presented with a good choice of food. There was also a small sitting room in which we could get a good wifi connection. A most enjoyable experience.

We booked a room at Lavinia House at the last minute for a short break in Whitby in August. From the outset the owners made us feel valued as guests contacting us by email and text to confirm the booking and keep up to date with our ETA as we travelled. On arrival we were greeted by John who proved friendly and welcoming, he noted the trip was for our anniversary, offering suggestions as to restaurants to visit and where we could park for free. It is worth noting the hotel does not have designated parking but we had no trouble finding a spot within view of our room and 100m of the front door...in fact had we parked right outside we might have been subjected to the attentions of the seagulls so we were glad we didn't in the end. Ours was room 6 on the top floor, no lift available but John was quick to offer help with our bags. The room is small but comfortable enough with a lovely view of the harbour, piers and (just) the abbey and St Mary's on the East Cliff and a well stocked hospitality tray. There were one or two minor gripes about the room one being the low pressure in the shower meaning it took a while to wash my hair in the morning and I had to get up pretty early and the fact the room got so hot at night. You could leave the window on vent to combat this problem but the position of the B&B meant there was a fairly constant stream of traffic until late at night and from early in the morning, when the seagulls and fish market also became an issue...so if you're a light sleeper you may need a room without a view!! Obviously this is outside the owners' control but worth bearing in mind. I would however suggest lighter tog duvets and blackout linings for the curtains to block out some of the light might be a helpful addition? Breakfast was served between 8.30-9am we were usually done by ten to nine so you can still get out and about. It was delicious and plentiful with fresh fruit, cereals, toast and a full English offered daily along with fresh orange juice and tea/coffee. If you wanted something else or a variation on this you could request it and the owners would do their best to accommodate it. Again served cheerfully by Sarah. Both John and Sarah were attentive without you feeling you were being constantly monitored, lovely hosts who run this place well, keeping it spotless and home like. We would definitely stay again if in Whitby very good value!!

We had a very enjoyable 3 night stay.Everywhere was spotlessly clean.The breakfast was varied and the quality was very good---no cheap stuff here.Sarah and John were friendly and helpful. They gave us a complimentary open-topped bus ticket for the day. We learnt a lot about the history of Whitby from that.Would cetainly stay here again The location is excellent.

Very happy to recommend Lavinia House. Everything about it is excellent. The only thing disappointing for my husband on our last stay was they didn't do kippers for breakfast, but now they do, so he was more than happy! We will definitely be returning.

Stayed for three nights at the end of May (bank holiday weekend) with friends (we had rooms 1 and 6). Our room, room 6, was on the top floor with a good view of the sea, but was a little cramped for space, although it did have a fantastic shower/bathroom. The rooms were really clean and the guest house was decorated to a high standard. The hospitality was very good and the breakfasts were tasty and plentiful, to include cereals, fresh fruit, egg and bacon etc, toast and tea or coffee. Sarah was very friendly and always ready to chat. This was our first time in Whitby and we couldn't have wished for a better guest house, ideally situated for a great stay. I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone and everyone.

We have just returned from a 3 night stay at Lavinia House and this was our first stay here. The hosts are so friendly and make you feel right at home. We were lucky enough to be offered a free upgrade which just goes to show how wonderful the owners are! Our room, room 2, was lovely, clean and comfy with a wonderful view of the crescent and the sea beyond. The room was very spacious wtih a big bathroom too. Breakfast has to be ordered the night before which was not a problem for us and was always delicious and cooked just as requested. The owners recomended a pie shop on the otherside of the swing bridge which was amazing!!! We had a lovely stay and will return here in future!

I had emailed lavinia house before i booked to explain that my father needed oxygen and we had to have it delivered prior to our arrival. when we arrived it was all in situ and plugged in ready to go, which was a great relief. the rooms were lovely, tv hair dryer and drink making facilities in rooms .The beds are really comfortable. The breakfast full English but Sarah and John would do a different breakfast if you requested it the night before. They were there if you needed them and were always friendly towards you whenever you saw them. the hotel is in the perfect place to get the best out of Whitby and surrounding areas. My husband and I have stayed at the Lavinia 5 times over the years but this was the first time we have met Sarah and John as they have only had it 2 years. We had a fantastic weekend and would thoroughly recommend it. we wouldn't book any where else , home from home is how I would discribe it

Me and my pregnant wife decided to have a weekend in Whitby because we had never been before and was making the most of the time we have before our little boy arrives. We stopped at the Lavinia and found it to be excellent.We stopped in room 7 with a great view and was very welcoming. My only downside was that the bed was too firm for me but the wife loved it (personal taste only). Breakfast was great, even though my wife threw her egg at me lol.Overall we would both go again and would stay at the Lavinia without hesitation, Whitby is such an amazing place and we didnt want to leave. I would recommend that if you go and you find a parking space when you get there then leave your car where it is. Parking is hard to find.I hope this helps others make their decision.

Would highly recommend Lavinia House to everyone. Right from driving up to the house, and seeing the crescent it is sent in, it has the wow factor. Our room (room 3) was perfect for us with its large 4 poster bed and 2 floor to ceiling windows, all in keeping with the style of property, with fantastic views of the sea. The en-suite bathroom was spotless and not only had a shower but also a bath (luxury) pure white towels that smelt divine. Excellent breakfast choice's cooked and presented to its best. arriving on friday 13th after a pretty traumatic journey (my neighbour reversed into my car just before setting off)we were welcomed into the Lavinia and our beautiful room. I had chosen the room as it had sea views and we were not disappointed. we enjoyed our stay so much, the hospitality, the lovely breakfasts - everything we wanted. thanks ever so much - we will be recommendingthe Lavinia House to anyone that wants to stay in Whitby

is a beautiful victorian building set at the top of quite a steep hill but well worth the climb.We stayed in room 2 which had a lovely four poster bed and great views out to sea.Thank you John & sarah for making our short break so enjoyable,not forgetting the hearty breakfast that set us up for the day.
